Who We Are

Kaneisha Dotson (Founder) & Desiree McMurry-Ellis (Co-Founder) gathered around a park bench, with a bucket of Southern Kettle Co. popcorn between them, enjoying a casual moment together.

From Humble Beginnings

Rooted in the heart of Gallatin, Southern Kettle established itself in 2023 as the go-to destination for homemade, gourmet popcorn. We blend Tennessee charm with creative flavor innovation, crafting every batch with care, intention, and just a little bit of attitude. One thing we pride ourselves on is making any event POP.

With a wide variety of flavors and a whole lot of personality, every kernel we sell is packed with bold, unforgettable taste. When you’re craving fresh, small‑batch popcorn, you know exactly where to find it: The Southern Kettle Co.

The Origin Story

The Southern Kettle Co. began after a beloved family‑owned popcorn shop that Kaneisha visited on her Atlanta trips suddenly closed its doors. Determined to keep her favorite treat alive (Caramel was her ride‑or‑die flavor), she and the team started experimenting with their own recipes, sticking to a simple, clean ingredient list with a whole lot of heart.

The Corn Crib, a historic landmark on Gallatin Square, soon became part of our story too. Once a photo‑op for making memories and even a WiFi hub for downtown, it’s now home to something even better: POPCORN. We’ve breathed new life into this little piece of local history and turned it into a place that celebrates great tastes, good company, and sharing.

With Desiree joining the journey, we’ve reignited a spark from the past and made it our own. Our mission is simple: creating the best popcorn in the world for the community that we love. Inspired by family favorites and customer suggestions, our lineup keeps growing and surprising people in the best way.
